Student Services Department
At any South African tertiary institution the SSD forms part of
the overall National Education Transformation Management Strategy.
The SSD aims to fulfill a particular support service and a development
function in relation to the complex and ever changing education,
human resource and socio-economic needs of the student population
and the needs of the country as a whole.
At the University of Zululand, the SSD comprises of nine sections
that aim to improve the quality of life of students.

Guidance and Counselling Section
The Guidance and Counselling Section at the University of Zululand
is a subsection of Student Services Department. The services provided
are both for registered students and prospective students of the
University. There is no extra cost; students are assisted by virtue
of being students or prospective students. The friendly staff
of Guidance and Counselling is always ready to help you as you
pursue your career.

9. General student development
This subsection of the section caries out some of the co-curricular
services that are aimed at distributing total personal student
development and advancement. These services are rendered to student
organizations, clubs and societies. These structures vary from
political, academic, extra mural to religious organizations. Effective
and efficient cooperation with other sections and departments
in the University of Zululand, other institutions and outside
organizations impact greatly on the effectiveness and efficiency
of these services.
