The Communication Science degree programme is aimed at those
who wish to become professional communication practitioners and
pursue careers in fields such as journalism, public relations,
advertising, marketing, radio, television, corporate communications,
business communications and electronic (digital and Internet)
communication. With this qualification, learners will be qualified
to enter the field of communication and information as professionals.
The programme includes specialised work in social change and
development communication, advanced public relations, journalism
and visual communications, digital communication and new communication
technologies.

A minimum of one year
Examination
Three 3-hour papers plus oral examination
Paper 1: ACS501 (3hrs) – Fundamentals of Communication (Theory
and Research)
Paper 2: ACS502 (3hrs) – Applied Communication Practice
(Methodology)
Paper 3: ACS503 (3hrs) – Field of Specialisation. One of
the following:-
o Public Relations
o Print Media (Journalism)
o Mass Media (Radio, Film and Television)
o Educational and Development Communication
Paper 4: ACS504 (Oral Examination) Project based on a case study.
